Keiko Tanabe – Painting Spanish landscape in watercolor – (May 13th 2018)

Discover the most beautiful corners of Valencia (Spain) with Keiko Tanabe.
The first days in the study will learn everything you need to make magnificent paintings outdoors.

Within the course several beautiful excursions to exercise learned in study classes are included.

This workshop is designed for those who would like to gain a better understanding of methods and techniques to make watercolour paintings that are simple yet strong. The goal is to develop an eye for a potentially good subject and capture the essence of it through the simplification process.

You will paint different subjects every day, including landscapes, cityscapes and waterscapes (en plein-air, weather permitting). Each day there will be a small exercise which will then be applied to a painting later in the day. Keiko will do two demonstrations a day. There will plenty of one-on-one guidance and a question-and-answer session on a daily basis. A class critique will be conducted at the end of each day.

The process of simplification begins with visualization. Through various exercises and step-by-step demonstrations, Keiko shows how you can take your initial inspiration through the simplification process to create an expressive painting that is simple in content and strong in composition.
